Description | Elementary Paraprofessional
The Elementary Paraprofessional will provide assistance with day-to-day classroom routines and procedures under the guidance of a licensed teacher. This position works in large and small group settings to support student mastery in math, reading, and writing skills in addition to the content areas of science and social studies. Help to provide students a positive learning environment.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to: Elementary Principal, Elementary Assistant Principal
Direct Reports: This is a non-supervisory position.
Compensation:
This is a full-time, 10-month position. Hour pay ranges between $17.25 - $29.69 per hour, depending on experience. Essential Functions:
Collaboration & Classroom Support:
- Actively participate in Professional Development provided by Pinnacle.
- Communicate and foster positive relationships with students, parents, and families.
- Contribute to our Professional Learning Community (PLC).
- Participate in activities, intervention discussions, and team meetings to ensure student success and to promote innovation.
- Work with teachers in designing curriculum.
- Work with teachers in establishing annual student achievement targets.
- Support student growth and achievement for the development of the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
- Provide assistance to the teacher in the instruction of students.
- Reinforce learning strategies and skills as modeled by the teacher.
- Follow and reinforce classroom management and student behavior expectations set by classroom teacher.
- Assist with supervising students in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, and on the playground or as requested.
- Supervise before- and after-school duty assignments.
- Escort and monitor K-5 students to/from lunch and recess.
- Conduct small group and individual instruction with the guidance and support of classroom teacher.
- Follow lesson plan developed by classroom teacher.
Additionally:
- Be present and engage in Pinnacle functions and organizations to build strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community.
- Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis.
- Regular and timely attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
General Abilities, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Skills:
- Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent (e.g. GED).
- Demonstrate subject matter competency by (1) earning an Associate’s degree or higher or (2) completing at least two years (48 credit hours) of study at an institution of higher education or (3) passing the State of Colorado WorkKeys teaching assistant exam and providing the school with test results.
- Support student growth and achievement for the development of the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Working Conditions:
Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.
Mental Functions: Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.
Physical Activities: Office environment including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.
Weight and Force Demands: Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).
Other: May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
