Substitute On-Call Bus Driver
We will train you to get your CDL! After receiving your CDL, you will receive a $500 bonus!
The Substitute Bus Driver will provide safe and reliable transportation for students, staff, and community members to will provide safe and reliable transportation for students, staff, and community members to various school-related activities. This position maintains positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, peers, and community members and provides the best possible opportunities for student development and growth, both educationally and personally.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to: Transportation Manager
Direct Reports: This is a non-supervisory position.
Compensation:
This is a part-time, on-call, 10-month position. The hourly pay range is $27.00-$38.07 per hour depending upon experience. This position is eligible for benefits. See a detailed outline of benefits and additional compensation at the bottom of the job description.
Essential Functions:
- Performs state-required inspection of the bus prior to each trip.
- Reports any and all vehicle malfunction, defect, or concern to the Transportation Supervisor immediately.
- Follows all federal, state, and local laws for transporting students.
- Transports students to and from school and/or field trips per the school-provided route and schedule in a safe and secure manner.
- Treats all students calmly and respectfully.
- Records and reports student incidents as they occur on the route or at designated stops
- Accurately records mileage per procedures defined by the supervisor.
- Ensures maintenance and cleaning schedules are completed.
- Checks bus after each run for students and/or left behind items.
- Ensures bus is properly parked and locked inside the Pinnacle gate prior to leaving
Additionally:
- Be present and engage in Pinnacle functions and organizations to build strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community.
- Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis.
- Regular and timely attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
General Abilities, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Skills:
- Must possess a valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an S endorsement
- Ability to communicate while appreciating the diverse background of students, parents, peers, and the community.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

Working Conditions:
Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Normal school bus environment with moderate to high noise level.
Mental Functions: Analyze, communicate, compare, coordinate, decide, evaluate, interpersonal skills, report, synthesize.
Physical Activities: Bus and office environments including computer interface. Bend, drive, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.
Weight and Force Demands: Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 30 pounds).
Other: May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
Note: In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the 2021-2022 school year, school staff are critical employees and are expected to perform work on campus as required.
