Description:

 

Contracted Event Technicians have the opportunity to support and assist the Theater Manager in the safe operation of the Performing Arts Complex at Pinnacle Charter School. This position provides technical support of performance space for school events and outside organization rentals.

 

Contracted Time:

 

This position is scheduled on an as-needed basis. There are no set hours weekly. Therefore, contractors choose and accept which events to work. Events are primarily on Fridays between 4:00pm-10:00pm and weekends (Sat/Sun) between 8:00am - 10:00pm.

 

Reporting Relationships:

 

Reports to: Theater Manager

Direct Reports: This is a non-supervisory position.

 

Compensation:

 

The budgeted compensation for this contracted role is $22.00 - 27.00 per hour and is dependent upon skills and experience.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Theater Support:

  • Set up and operate lighting, audio, and projection systems for various event genres (theater, dance, ensemble music, presentations, etc.).
  • Hang, circuit, and focus lighting fixtures. Program basic lighting cues.
  • Conduct sound checks, mix vocal and instrumental mics, and play audio tracks.
  • Focus projectors; quality control check renters’ videos; and execute projection show files.
  • Provide labor for hung and ground-supported scenic elements such as backdrops, flats, set pieces, etc. Use safe theatrical rigging practices.
  • Set up event furniture (tables, chairs, pipe & drape, etc.).
  • Sweep and mop backstage areas prior to renter arrival.
  • Install marley dance flooring.
  • Execute technical riders.
  • Be visible and available to assist renters.
  • Monitor venue use. Ensure safe use of venue's equipment. Enforce school district and rental contract policies.
  • Tear down equipment at the conclusion of each event. Store all gear and property appropriately.
  • Alert Theater Manager of any safety concern, equipment service, and/or area for improvement. 
  • Under guidance, perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Liaise with facilities, custodial, and security staff.

  • Possess a wide range of theatrical systems knowledge across multiple disciplines.
  • Familiarity with ETC Ion, Allen & Heath GL3800, and Midas M32Live.
  • Basic power tools/carpentry skills.
  • Marley floor maintenance.
  • Comfortable working at heights (ladder and scissor lift).

Working Conditions:

 

Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes; normal theater environment with moderate to high noise level

Physical Activities: Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk

Weight and Force Demands: Frequent physical activity including lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 30 pounds
